1. Demand Justice for Max: Dog Shot by Police

This past weekend a video was uploaded to YouTube showing police in Hawthorne, Calif., arresting a man for doing nothing, and shooting his dog, a young Rottweiler named Max ...four times. 

Please sign the petition asking lawmakers and police officials to change policies to ensure safety for pets and the public and to prosecute the officer (who has a history with brutality) involved for animal cruelty.

2. Stop Horse Slaughter From Returning to the U.S.

Even though horse slaughter is opposed by 80 percent of Americans, the USDA recently approved a proposal for a slaughterhouse in New Mexico, while other companies are working on plans to open more. The Safeguard American Food Exports Act would stop the sale or transport of horses for human consumption in the U.S. and to Canada and Mexico, ensuring that horses stay out of the slaughter pipeline. 

Please send a letter to your representatives asking them to support this crucial piece of legislation for America's horses.

3. Save Puget Sound's Orcas from Toxins

There are fewer than 90 orca whales in Puget Sound, known as the Southern Residents, who currently face threats from a decrease in salmon and toxins in the water. To add to their troubles, Big Coal is planning on moving large quantities through the area, which will further pollute the water and add additional threats to not only the orcas and the salmon they depend on, but other species as well. 

Please send a letter to state and federal agencies opposing the construction of coal terminals in the Northwest.
