Friends of Pets in Alaska
Friends of Pets' Mission
Friends of Pets provides vital animal welfare and protective services for abandoned animals, with respect, compassion and integrity.
We intervene to reduce the euthanasia rates at the Anchorage Animal Care and Control Center, to promote responsible pet ownership and to improve the quality of life for companion animals.
Friends of Pets is a 501-C3 non-profit organization based in Anchorage staffed entirely by volunteers and supported by donations. The organization was incorporated in 1989. Together we are making a difference!

The organization provides the following services to the community:

2. A information center voice mail where you can get information about what to do if you have lost or found a pet, adoption information, what to do if you need to place a pet etc. You can also leave a message and a volunteer will return your call and help you problem solve your question. This # is 562-2535. Please remember Friends of Pets is run entirely by volunteers, most of who work so there will be a delay in returning your call but not more than 8 hours.

3. Spay/neuter assistance coupons. All you need to do to receive a $45 coupon is to send a self-addressed envelope to PO BOX 240981 Anchorage AK 99524-0981. If you have a special need you can call or write to ask for a $100% coupon. These coupons have the value of the SPCA clinic prices here in Anchorage for surgery costs. Our coupons can now no longer be used in conjunction with other coupons. Funds are limited and we want to be able to reach out to the maximum # of people we can. We have a limit of 5 coupons per year.
4. Adoption program- we rescue animals from Anchorage Animal Care and Control upon request of the center management animals that are in need of medical care or need special adoptions support. Our adoption program includes an application/ home visit/trail period. Our website lists the animals available as well as on our Facebook page.
