weekly Animal Petitions Corner

Written by Alicia of WoodsEdge

1. Help Put an End to “Seal Bombs” in the US

Seal bombs, or acoustic harassment devices, are exploding bombs that fishermen use to keep seals away. Some people also have baited fish with them and fed them directly to seals, which can either kill them immediately, or leaves them severely injured to die a slow and painful death. Unfortunately, this method of seal harassment has been approved by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and is perfectly legal.

Sign the petition asking NOAA to end the use of seal bombs.

2. Help Free Animals From Guzoo Farm

Guzoo Animal Farm in Alberta has been under the radar for mistreatment of Canada’s animals. Public pressure has lead to this roadside zoo losing its license, but some of the animals there are not covered under the Alberta Wildlife Act or the permit that was revoked and will remain at the facility.

Sign the petition asking Canadian ministers to remove all of the animals from Guzoo and ensure them safe homes.

3. Help Stop Cruel Pig Labs

The University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Medicine has been using live pigs in its physiology lab. The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine just filed a criminal complaint on the grounds that UMMC is violating the state’s anti-cruelty laws by using live animals when alternatives are available.

Send a letter to UMMC School of Medicine’s dean James E. Keeton, M.D., and University of Mississippi chancellor Daniel W. Jones, M.D.,
