My favorite charity is my local animal shelter. They operate completely on donations and love, while servicing a very large rural area. Always overcrowded, often caring for ill or injured "throw away" animals, they are our only alternative to the animal control Warden (you know what they do after 3 days)! So, for August, I am donating 10% of my shop profits to the Highland County (Ohio) Humane Society Animal Center.
I am excited to be a new member of EFA, and I happy be hosting the category "Stores that Sell Pet Toys and Treats". If your shop fits into this category, please leave a comment with the following information:
- Your name and the link to your store
- A brief description of what you sell in your shop
- How you donate to charity (percent of sales, percent of profits, certain items, etc.)
- What charity you donate to
- A link to one or two items that you would like to have featured
Emma's K9 Kitchen http://www.emmask9kitchen.etsy.com/is an all Vegan Dog Treat Recipe Shop. All recipes are the creation of the shop owner, Molly, and her dog Emma is the official head taste tester! This shop is being run as a fund raiser for the Peaceful Prairie Sanctuary, which provides life long care for rescued farm animals http://www.peacefulprairie.org/. 100% of the shop profits go to this wonderful organization.
LV's TWISTED WHISKERS CREATIONS
http:// www.lvsbeadsnthings.esty.com, aka LV's Twisted Whiskers Creations, offers tasty dog treats shaped like hearts and dog bones. They are perfect for puppies (over 8 weeks), as well as dogs. You can also find some wonderful stuffed doggie toys which are excellent for dogs that like to chew and teething puppies. The pictured bone toy is made of industrial felt which also has a knotted cord tied around it for pulling, so it's like two toys built into one. This shop offers a variety of other items too, such as cell phone charms, jewelry, candles, dream catchers and clay art!
Of course, one of the best thing about this shop is the owner's love of animals. She cannot remember a time in her life when she wasn't surrounded by animals, and she loves all kinds, domestic and wild. It is because of that deep love that she has listed many of her products with a declaration that a percentage of their sale price will go to one of the causes she supports, which she then names in the item description. Currently she donates to the Priest River Animal Rescue, http://www.pranimalrescue.org., Abandoned Wild Babies Animal Rescue, http://www.awbar.etsy.com, the Defenders of Wildlife Org., and the EFA charity of the month.
VIVA LE CHAT
Please leave a message here if your shop fits in this category!
ReplyDeleteMy name is Robyn and my shop is www.vivalechat.etsy.com
ReplyDeleteI sell handmade knit catnip mice, stuffed with extremely potent catnip. I like to make up fun and colorful designs.
My etsy store was initially a way to raise money for heart surgery for Viva le Chat, a young kitty I adopted from a shelter who had a major heart deformity. Unfortunately, her heart failed a month before I could get her in to see a cardiologist. In her memory, I donate to imom.org (In Memory of Magic), a charity that raises funds to help low-income families pay for urgent and prohibitively expensive vet expenses. Had Viva lived longer, I probably would have needed imom's support, so I'm happy to help them now by donating a third of what I make on Etsy.
