1. Support the Pet Safety and Protection Act

The Pet Safety and Protection Act will put an end to Class B dealers, or brokers who source and sell animals to research institutions for a profit. Not only is the business itself inherently cruel, but these dealers are notorious for violations of  the Animal Welfare Act, along with fraud, pet theft and falsifying records. 

Please send a letter to your representative asking them to support this important piece of legislation for companion animals.

2. Protect Switzerland's Cats from Hunting

Switzerland currently has a law that allows citizens to shoot feral and domestic cats that roam 200 meters (656 feet) from their homes, which is intended to protect birds and other small wild animals. However, animal advocates suspect that some are using this law as a cover to take and kill cats for the fur trade. Cat advocates hoped that the Swiss Parliament would ban cat hunting last week, but the measure failed due to the belief that alternatives, such as spay/neuter would be costly and ineffective. 

Please send a message to Switzerland's lawmakers asking them to reconsider their decision and ban cat hunting.

3. Help Louisiana's Black Bears

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is planning some major construction in prime black bear habitat along the Mississippi River. Unfortunately, the Senate is considering a bill that would allow the U.S. Corps to start large-scale construction projects without environmental reviews - which could put a variety of species at risk. 

Please send a letter to your senators asking them to pass a Water Resources Development Act that protects wildlife.
