Trend #1: St. Patrick's Day !

Since St. Patrick's Day is less than a week away, I thought it only fitting that I start my first "Up On Trends" feature focusing on the holiday.

St. Patrick's Day is Saturday, March 17. It is celebrated in Ireland and many other countries where there are Irish immigrants or those with Irish ancestors. Of course in the US lots of people who aren't Irish still celebrate by wearing green and celebrating, usually with copious amounts of food and drink!

The color green, shamrocks (or clovers), leprechauns, rainbows and all kinds of symbols of luck are popular themes for this holiday. Etsy for animals Team members have some great items in these categories.

- a lucky collar for man's best friend

- 4-leaf clover charms AND lucky horseshoes on this bangle

- good looking (and lucky?) cat toys

Some ideas for tagging St. Patrick's Day
themed items: holiday, green, luck, lucky, Irish

Trend #2: Vintage Fashion 1950s & 1960's

Authentic vintage fashion and decor seem to be bigger than ever lately, possibly due to the popularity of shows such as "Mad Men" or maybe just a yearning for the past. Vintage items from or influenced by the 1950s and 1960s are among the most popular.

Sleek looking suits, trench coats, and fedoras are all the rage for men. Pearls, pencil skirts and sweater sets personify this look for women. Home decorating themes for this era include long clean horizontal lines, subtle colors, metallic finishes, East Asian inspired decor, abstract art, Chippendale sofas and bar sets.

Here are some selections from Team EFA members that fit this theme:

- this wallet size shopping card is so perfectly retro

- authentic designer fashion

- with images from the 1961 movie classic

Some ideas for tagging items in these categories:
1950s and 1960s but also 50s and 60s, mid-century
