ANiMAL PETiTiONS CORNER by WoodsEdge
presented by Alicia of WoodsEdge
1. Fight Animal Abuse in Canada
Canadian actor Luka Magnotta just made headlines for allegedly murdering and dismembering Lin Jun. Before this incident, Magnotta various animal advocacy organizations suspected his involvement in kitten torture videos that began surfacing in 2010, but the alleged cruelty wasn't enough for a prosecution.
Sign the petition asking Canada's Minister of Justice to close loopholes in Canada's Criminal Code that allow animal abusers to literally get away with murder.
2. Ask London Restaurants to Stop Serving Foie Gras
As the host of this year's Olympics, London will be getting global attention and a lot of tourists. Unfortunately, many restaurants still serve foie gras, the cruelly produced diseased liver of ducks and geese.
Sign the petition asking London restaurants to take a stand against animal cruelty and stop serving foie gras.
3. Get Involved in National Feral Cat Day
National Feral Cat Day, a day dedicated to promoting humane care of feral cats, is just a few months away. Alley Cat Allies is offering a variety of ways to get involved to help feral cats from attending webinars to hosting or attending events.
If you're interested in doing something for feral cats in your community this year, visit:
4. Ask United Airlines to Stop Transporting Animals for Research
Like other airlines in the U.S., United Airlines stopped shipping primates destined for research facilities. Unfortunately, the company is now being pressured by the animal research industry to resume this practice due to a recent merger with Continental.
Please send a letter asking United Airlines not to transport any animals that are destined for research facilities.
