February Charity of the Month
From MVegan5.etsy.com
Because of the dire situation in Haiti, I have decided to feature the WSPA as the charity of month, because of their work helping the animals of Haiti.
We are running the EFA WSPA Haiti Animal Relief Fundraiser, which began already, and will continue after the month of February. The WSPA has a blog for animal disaster relief efforts, where they have post news and updates about their work in Haiti.
Many members have already listed items to help; you can add yours. Anyone who wants to list items to help, please put this in the title; EFA WSPA Haiti Animal Relief Fundraiser; then as always, everyone can donate to the disaster relief fund directly, then submit their donation amounts here.

Tombola (raffle) Fundraiser for Animals!
EFA is sponsoring a Tombola (raffle) Fundraiser for Animals with To Happy Vegans http://tohappyvegans.com The event will be on the 6th of February in Bath, England. EFA will be donating at least 30 prizes for the raffle, and we get to choose which charity will receive the funds raised! Please leave a comment on this blog entry by Jan. 10 with your charity suggestion and letting me know if you can donate an animal product free item(s).
I will send the address to those who can donate. Let's make this event a success for EFA, To Happy Vegans, and the animals!!!
From Mitsu To Happy Vegans: "The event is organised by VIVA! an organisation that campaigns for a vegan/vegetarian world. They are supported by celebs such as Paul Mccartney, Heather Mills and Chrissie Hyndes. This is their website.
Everything at the event must be vegan and it is a not-for-profit educational initiative organised by Viva! which is held every year. More information on the Roadshow is here.
Sasha and I started the website this year after both turning vegan at the same time. We wanted to share everything we have learned and make it easier for other people who are conisdering becoming vegan make the change. We have recipes, fashion, blogs, nutrition and all sorts of other information on the website. In addition to this we also make vegan cakes and are hoping to branch out further with this, everything we make is vegan and we use organic and fair trade ingredients.
In addition to our cakes, when we have stalls at vegan fayres and festivals such as the VIVA! one we also have a tombola (a raffle) [100% goes to a specific charity]. All the prizes are generously donated by vegan companies or other companies we feel share our ethics. The current procedure is quite lengthy and involves contacting every company individually as we come across them, so a sponsored tombola seems to make sense and will help save our time so we can concentrate on the million and one other things we have ideas for! This year we have managed to raise money for Marine Connection, VegFam, and HIPPO Charity.
This is our tombola from the last fayre we did.
We are both in full time employment and maintain our non profit website and prepare for all the vegan festivals in our spare time."
Please donate an item(s) to help and suggest an animal charity to benefit by leaving a comment below. Thanks, Michele

Greyhound Pets of America (GPA)-Tampa Bay is having both an auction and raffle on February 21, 2009 to support greyhound rescue.
The event will be held in conjunction with the "Parade of Greys" walkathon in Tampa Bay, Florida. The "Parade of Greys" is a cooperative event between GPA-Tampa Bay and GRreyhound Rescue & Adoptions-Tampa Bay.
Any and all donations are welcome. For more information, please contact Joe, vice-president of GPA-Tampa Bay, at JMuhrlin@intlsign.com.
If you'd like to donate an item, Joe asks that you please send the following with your item:
- A note to say that you are an Etsy for Animals member, and that the item is for the February auction.
- Business cards and/or your website links
- An approximate value for your donation item.
- An e-mail address where he can contact you about your donation.
Items may be sent to:
Joe Muhrlin
6980 Ulmerton Rd #2C
Largo, FL 33771
All donators will receive both a thank you letter and a 501c3 tax-exempt letter.
Monetary donations are also welcome since GPA-Tampa Bay has had unexpected veterinary expenses lately. You can donate directly by going to the GPA-Tampa Bay website and using the PayPal link on the left side of the home page.
GPA-Tampa Bay is dedicated to promoting and facilitating the adoption of greyhounds when their racing careers end, and to educate the public about greyhounds and what wonderful pets they can become. GPA cares for the animals from the track to their new homes, using our network of foster homes where loving volunteers help them learn the trials and tribulations of life after the track. GPA Tampa Bay is run entirely by volunteers and depends on fundraising and donations for its operating expenses.

Needed: Item Donations for Dog Rescue Auction
From an e-mail sent to EFA co-leader MVegan5:
My name is Christopher Walsh, and I volunteer for two New England dog rescue groups- Life's Little Paws (cocker spaniels) and Chesapeake Safe Harbor (Chesapeake Bay retrievers). For many years several cocker spaniel groups got together and had an online auction to raise funds. Last spring, Life's Little Paws decided to invest in its own software, offer it to limited rescues, and have only two auctions per year, Spring and Fall (Holiday). The auction site is www.lifeslittlepawsauction.com, and the Fall auction runs from October 18 to November 22, 2008.
Chesapeake Safe Harbor is involved, an all-breed rescue out of California is involved, and several cocker spaniel groups from Ohio, New England, California, New York, Florida and (I think) Tennessee will be joining. It's a great way to network, let people do their holiday shopping and of course raise money for the rescues to continue a never-ending project: saving the dogs.
The nice thing is we can list the web addresses on the auction for the non-winners to go ahead and order later. We have over 600 registered and spending users that utilize the auction and spend their money- all pet lovers. Even a few kitty things end up here.
I guarantee that 100% of the proceeds go to the dogs, and, through Chesapeake Safe Harbor, I can issue a tax receipt for a donation to this non-profit organization for any and all donations. If anyone is interested in donating something to the auction, please email me soon, as listing for the auction is fully underway. My email address is dallasisland@netzero.com, and my shipping address is:
Christopher Walsh
31 Gretas Lane
Bar Harbor, ME 04609
Please include a link to your website or your Etsy store, the value of the donation (including time invested) and the mailing address for the receipt to go to. Don't hesitate to email me with any questions.

Vintage Owlies Drops Earrings

My Vintage Owlie Drops earrings are my entry for the Green Challenge.
I love using vintage/recycled materials in my artwork and jewelry, and both the owls and green drops are vintage pieces. By creating with and purchasing items that are vintage, re-used, or recycled, we reduce our environmental footprint.

This Stuff Is For The Birds.......
WOW...Take a look at this line up...
Our first creation is the biggest star of November. This set of 3 Turkey Cards by mvegan5 (our very own star!) has vibrant, autumn colors featuring a photo of a painting by mvegan5.
The cards are 5"x7" are cream colored and blank inside signed by the artist. Mvegan5's Cards, Paintings, Prints, and Vintage Component Jewelry are inspired by nature and animals.
Next we have a small framed watercolor titled, "Chiquito" by thecitylover.
An adorable little yellow chick on blue, with a white border, is under glass in a brass colored frame. It measures 2.5" x 3", Circa 1983 - 1985 by Rocio PindterSan Miguel De Allendeof Guanajuato Mexico.THECITYLOVER's Etsy Shop is also known as the city. At the city you will find an eclectic mix of vintage and on occasion, my humble art.
Explore the city, you never know what you'll find!
Next we have a charming necklace, Kissing Swallow Birds by pulpsushi.

So pretty in pink.....This necklace features a vintage fuschia lucite swallow birds hanging from an 18 inch silver finish ball chain. Birds measure 2.5 inches in width.
Pulpsushi says:
I started in June 2006 after being inspired by my creative friends to get off my toosh and bring my ideas to life. It started with marble magnets, notebooks, jewelry, and hair accessories. Through some inspiration, I found new and fun ways to express myself and at the same time, provide some kitschy cuteness to others. I'm always looking for funky charms and beads for necklaces and earrings to make so there is plenty to go around!
And our final feathered friend is this stunning work of art, titled Great Egret by art2artcolorado. The painting is 11" x 14" created with Acrylic on Paper-Collaged Premium Canvas. Art2artcolorado has captured the beauty and grace of the great egret in bright colors and pastel tones. This portrait is ready to frame.
A bit about art2artcolorado: Art2ArtColorado has a variety of progressive artwork ranging from digital painting & collage, mixed media work, paintings on canvas and 3D aceo's.

Be sure to stop in at the etsyforanimals shop and see all of the items, pick something up and know that you are helping DART, a mobile command post and emergency response team for disaster situations, such as fires or earthquakes. In response to the devastating fires in Malibu and throughout Southern California, spcaLA's Disaster Animal Response Team (DART) has leapt into action!

3 The Question Greeting Cards by mvegan5

Etsy for Animals has one of its strongest supporters in mevgan5, EFA group leader.
These cards are a thoughtful comment on the gentleness of animals, which is captured in her unique style, and their more questionable treatment by human beings. There are three (3) blank 5x7" greeting cards with a reproduction of a painting by Michele. See her shop at mvegan5, where 10% goes to the efa charity of the month.
NOTE :- The full price of this item goes to the Charity of the Month.
