1. Support a Ban of Dog, Cat and Horse Meat in Hawaii

The Hawaiian Senate is considering a bill (Bill 197) that would make it make it a Class B felony to kill a dog, cat or horse for human consumption. The bill would also make it illegal to eat or breed companion animals for this purpose, in addition to banning the possession, sale, purchase, transport, import or giving away any companion animals that are headed for someones plate.

2. Thank the EU for Banning Animal Testing for Cosmetics

After decades of campaigning, the EU has announced that it is on track to finalize the ban on animal testing for cosmetics this March, which will make it so that anyone selling cosmetic products in the EU will not be allowed to test finished products or their ingredients on animals anywhere in the world, whether or not an alternative to animal testing is available.

3. Tell Manitoba to Reinstate Licensing Requirements for Dog Breeders

Manitoba has dropped its licensing requirement for dog breeders, which means they can now do whatever they want with no oversight. Animal advocates are now worried about the safety of dogs with the potential proliferation of puppy mills in the area, in addition to the potential burden this could mean for rescues and shelters.
