weekly Animal Petitions Corner

Animal Petitions Corner

by Alicia of WoodsEdge

1. Protect Collared Bears in Minnesota

Researchers have been studying black bears in Minnesota in order to provide education and outreach to the public about coexisting with each other. Unfortunately, while the bears are clearly marked, they’re still legally fair game for hunters. Simply asking hunters to not kill bears who are collared has not worked.

Sign the petition to support legislation that would make it illegal to kill collared bears.

2. Stop Utah Senate’s Feral Animal Bill

Representative Curt Oda's feral animal bill, which will allow anyone in Utah to shoot a feral animal whether it’s actually feral or not, is back on the table. Despite opposition, the bill has passed the House and has moved on to the Senate.

Sign the petition asking Utah’s Senate to vote against this bill and consider alternatives.

3. Give Burrowing Owls Habitat They Can Thrive In

Sign the pledge supporting the Nature Conservancy of Canada’s efforts to protect wildlife and habitats, which provide animals like the burrowing owl a place to live where they can not only exist, but thrive.
